‘Meet Yourself’ -the Vietnamese version – visit Lo Lo Chai Cultural and Tourism Village on your journey to conquer the “blossoming rock region” of Ha Giang

Lo Lo Chai village (in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province) is located close to the northernmost point of Vietnam, about 1.5 km from Lung Cu flagpole. Lo Lo Chai is a place that still retains many traditional cultural beauties with houses dating back many generations of the Lo Lo people.

Many people who come here compare Lo Lo Chai to Van Mieu village (Yunnan province, China) famous in the movie “Meet Yourself” with the participation of two main actors, Liu Yifei and Li Xian (Chinese Actor & Actress). The film is about the life of a countryside in China, where people live together, have feelings, build homestays, and do tourism with many activities for tourists. And Lo Lo Chai has been recognized as a Cultural and Tourism Village in early 2022. For nearly two years, the government and people have coordinated to make tourism more professional and methodical. The number of tourists coming to the village is increasing day by day and people’s lives are also getting better. The roads in the village were also made clean and beautiful.

Located right at the foot of the mountain Dragon and only about 1km from Lung Cu Flagpole, has been inhabited by the Mong and Lo Lo ethnic groups throughout the decades. Lo Lo Chai Village preserves many community cultural values ​​of ethnic groups on the beautiful Dong Van stone plateau.

Currently the village has 119 households with 542 people, of which 42 families work as homestays and 5 families work as restaurants. The most crowded day is up to 600 people, usually on weekends and holidays. On weekdays, there are an average of 100-200 guests staying.

The houses in Lo Lo still have the traditional wall style. Stone fences, brown dirt walls, corn cobs drying on the rafters, along with peach trees or green cabbage patches in front of the door. The tiled roofs are located close together, creating a simple, peaceful scene. To serve tourism, households have renovated and build closed toilets, making it convenient for tourists to come for accommodation and activities, but without affecting the exterior and overall architecture.

Homestay room prices in Lo Lo Chai currently range from 150,000 VND to 800,000 VND per night, depending on whether it is a community room (dorm) or private room. The rooms are clean. There are full amenities such as hot and cold water. You can also order food at the homestay and ask the host to cook.

Lo Lo people are also extremely traditional, with beautiful brocade embossed dresses, and delicious black chicken hot pot dishes because the vegetables here are so fresh and sweet. If you come to Lo Lo Chai, try to experience wearing elaborate, colorful dresses – the product of diligence and diligence with the skillful hands of Lo Lo women. On it are embroidered motifs of bird’s eyes, bird’s feet, terraced fields, buckwheat triangles… So you are wearing one of the most unique traditional costumes on the global geological plateau. July Tet – also known as “Xi lon du” Tet – Ancestor worship ceremony of the Black Lo Lo people, Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province. According to tradition, every 25th day of the 7th lunar month, when farm work is relatively idle, the Black Lo Lo ethnic people organize the Ancestor Worshiping Ceremony – the most important, largest and indispensable festival. in the year of the Black Lo Lo people in the northernmost part of the country. These days, people in the village, even if they work far away or go to school, will return home to attend the Ancestor Worship Ceremony and celebrate the July New Year.

Get lost in the tiny alleys around the village, the dusty dirt roads, on both sides are stone fences as solid as stone combined with cracked but solid earth walls, and look at the dirty children playing in the yard. Being shy with strangers but hiding behind mothers picking vegetables… suddenly I felt strangely peaceful, my heart felt light.
